'Lone Ranger' Is 'Built Around Tonto,' Director Says
'You've heard the Lone Ranger's story; you just haven't heard it told from this guy,' Gore Verbinski tells MTV News.

Now that Disney, Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp have ironed out most of the budget kinks surrounding their production of "The Lone Ranger," we can all rest easy that the masked man and his trusty sidekick Tonto are headed to the big screen soon.
When MTV News caught up with Verbinski at the Hollywood Awards Gala Monday night, where his quirky animated film "Rango" received the Hollywood Animation Award, we asked how he was feeling about the film and what his plans are for the adaptation.
"I feel great. We're not shooting a Western in the middle of winter; the whole thing is pushed into a more reasonable time of year, so now we have to go make the movie," Verbinski said, speaking to the film's new May 31, 2013, release date. "There's been a lot of talk. Hopefully in a year and a half we'll have something we can talk about."
Verbinski went on to say that he's been hard at work on the screenplay for two years and that the central character is not the Ranger.
"It's all built around Tonto," he said. "You've heard the Lone Ranger's story; you just haven't heard it told from this guy, and he was there."
Depp has already teased that their take on the beloved duo's Western adventures will be "interesting," to say the least.
"I like the character. I think I have interesting plans for the character, and I think the film itself could be entertaining and very funny," he said. "But also I like the idea of having the opportunity to make fun of the idea of the Indian as a sidekick — which has always been [the case] throughout the history of Hollywood. The Native American has always been a second-class, third-class, fourth-class, fifth-class citizen, and I don't see Tonto that way at all. So it's an opportunity for me to salute Native Americans."

Just in time to promote his next LP, Rick Ross is back on Twitter and sending love to his fans. Find out what he said inside and see a new performance from Cori B,and T-Pain's new "Fantasy" video featuring Dawn Ri'Chard.
As he prepares for the release of his fifth album God Forgives, I Don’t (due December 13), Rick Ross tweeted his first message since he suffered two seizures two weeks ago.
He said,
“#thebossback. stronger than Ive ever been.. richer than I ever wuz..”
Although he made no direct mention of his health, his protege Wale told Angie Martinez:
"He needs to get some rest. He's been working himself real, real hard. Every other day he text me, make sure you get some rest."
Hopefully Rick is resting because he has a lot of projects coming up, including an appearance on Mary J. Blige's My Life II disc on a song called "Why."

Justin Bieber's 'Mistletoe' Video Director Shares Set Secrets
From Justin's iced-out grill to his offer to buy a Porsche, Roman White gives MTV News the behind-the-scenes scoop.

Roman White has directed videos for the likes of Seether, Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum, but none of those projects prepared him for rather unique challenge of working with Justin Bieber, an artist who demands a certain level of secrecy.
Then again, White has been down this path before (he directed the Biebs' "One Less Lonely Girl" video in 2009). So when it came time for him to shoot the "Mistletoe" video, he was ready — and appropriately tight-lipped.
"We were casting, and everything had to be very secretive, so we were literally casting these girls, we couldn't tell them who it was, and we couldn't tell them any of the stuff, because we were trying to keep this shoot as much under wraps as we could," White told MTV News following the premiere of the "Mistletoe" video. "So this girl came out, her name is Allie Williams, and she was my number one pick from the minute she walked in. So I ended up casting her [as Bieber's love interest], and we went and did the fitting, and I got permission from my producer. ... I told her who it was, and she was really excited to be in it, to say the least."
As far as all that secrecy goes, judging by behind-the-scenes footage of the "Mistletoe" shoot, it was all for naught, as hundreds of Bieber fans showed up and squealed their way through the day.
"It did not work out so well," White said, laughing. "But it could've been worse!"
White also revealed that his previous experience had prepared him for Bieber's notorious on-set pranks. So when JB showed up sporting a seriously iced-out grill, the director wasn't shocked.
"We were about to start shooting the first scene, and he was walking around, and he had this grill in the bottom of his teeth. It was bedazzled like you wouldn't believe," White explained. "He kept walking by me and just smiling a little bit so I would see it. I think he was trying to stress me out, because he knew that I wasn't really going to want him to wear this glittery grill on the bottom of his teeth. And finally, I was like, 'We're not going to wear that, are we?' "
Now that the "Mistletoe" video has premiered, White let us in on a little secret: There's a whole lot more riding on it than viewers might imagine — like the Porsche Speedster that Bieber drives in the clip.
"When we were shooting the Porsche scene, and I told Justin, 'We should just buy this car and split it,' and he was like, 'If this video wins an MTV Video Music Award, I'll just buy you one,' " White said, laughing. "So I am starting the campaign right now ... a Christmas video has probably never won anything, but it's not about the award, it's about the car."

This Halloween is the third in a row that the shaky-cam, faux-documentary series "Paranormal Activity" has released an entry into theaters, and critics agree that "Paranormal Activity 3" shares more than just a filming style with its predecessors.
While the critical consensus is generally positive, most reviews note how similar the new "Paranormal" is to the two that came before it. This could be seen as a good or bad thing depending on how you feel about the first two films. There are new scares filling out a quiet, homespun frame, but not much else.

As a Sequel " 'Paranormal Activity 3' is a prequel, revealing that the characters in 'PA1' and 'PA2' had already been through the all-night video surveillance ordeal. Demi Lovato had a lot to celebrate on Monday night. Not only did the Texas native nail the "Star Spangled Banner" to open Game 5 of the World Series, she did it in Arlington, Texas, on a night when the Texas Rangers beat the St. Louis Cardinals to take a 3-2 lead in the fall classic.
Wearing a red Rangers jersey with a short black leather skirt and a black blazer, Lovato shook off the butterflies she was feeling earlier in the day, when she tweeted she was "so nervous/excited about tomorrow!" and did her best.
As it turns out, the19-year-old "Skyscraper" star had nothing to fear, as she confidently performed the notoriously tricky song with a touch of soul and some impressive high runs. As a bonus, unlike some notorious anthem flubs in the past, Lovato not only hit her notes, but got all the words right as well.
"The rush of going out there ... nothing compares to it. I feel like I'm about to jump out of a plane," Lovato said before her big moment, while chilling off-field with her family at the stadium. MTV News hung out with Lovato before she walked out and she told us that the sound check had gone well but she was still feeling uneasy about her opening gig. "I can't imagine how nervous I'm going to be in 15 minutes," she said, thrilled that she hadn't forgotten any of the lyrics in her first run-through.
"Getting to do this in my hometown of Dallas, Texas, is such a dream come true, because I've been to these Rangers games many times. I've sat in the nosebleed sections where you can barely see anything and now I'm going to be singing on the field," she continued. "That to me is such a dream come true and it represents my journey and how far I've come. I just feel so blessed and so thankful and so honored." She was feeling so grateful in fact, that she offered a prayer beforehand in which she thanked her fans and asked for strong vocals while praising the opportunity to sing the National Anthem.
"It's a different environment from my shows; there are people that come there to see me," she said. "Here, they are coming here to see baseball and I am actually just singing the National Anthem. So it's kind of more pressure for me to do good because I want to impress people that didn't come here to see me and I also want to impress people with a song they've heard a million, kajillion times. ... If anything, to be able to step up in front of 51,000 people is going to be incredible."
Lovato followed in the footsteps of "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery and "New Girl" star Zooey Deschanel, who have both lent their vocals to earlier World Series games.

Naomi Watts Talks Heath Ledger's Death in 'More'
Though Heath Ledger passed away more than three years ago, his memory is still being treasured by those closest to him. Ledger's former girlfriend, Naomi Watts, opened up about The Dark Knight actor's death in the October issue of More magazine, and says she still holds the relationship close to her heart.
"We had a beautiful relationship, only a couple of years, but he was a man who was completely full of joy, and there was a lot of laughing and affection. He was really a very special soul and made a great impact on my life," the 42-year-old Dream House actress says.
Watts dated Ledger from 2002 to 2004. She has been in a relationship with Liev Schreiber since 2005 and has two sons -- Alexander, 4, and Samuel, 2 -- with the 43-year-old actor.
As someone who lost her own father at a young age, Watts said she can empathize with the struggle Ledger's 5-year-old daughter Matilda (with former girlfriend Michelle Williams) must be going through.
"(Ledger was) a great actor, but I know there was so much more to come. And it’s a tragedy for his little daughter," Watts says. "Not knowing my father always made me feel like a piece of myself was missing or unknown. Not reachable. Growing up, there was this wondering what he would think of me or what I would think of him."
After Ledger's death in 2008, Watts was reportedly a "mess over the death" and canceled many of her press appearances to deal with the tragedy. Nearly a year after his passing, Watts said that it was "still incredibly difficult" to talk about Ledger.

George Clooney & Stacy Keibler: Hollywood Awards Lovers
He?s one of Tinseltown?s top leading men, and George Clooney received a special trophy at the 15th Annual Hollywood Film Awards tonight (October 24).
Joined at the event by his new lady Stacy Keibler, the ?Men Who Stare at Goats? star was given the 2011 Hollywood Actor Award for his performance as an emotionally-distant husband and father in ?The Descendants.?
Carlos de Abreu, the event?s founder and executive director, told press, "George Clooney delivered a flawless and passionate performance in Alexander Payne's human drama The Descendants. Clooney continues to shine as one of Hollywood's most gifted actors. We're delighted to honor him at this year's Hollywood Film Awards."
George joins the ranks of previous Hollywood Actor Award recipients like Jackie Chan, Russell Crowe, Ewan McGregor, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Jessica Simpson's Family Flight Baby Bump
Making no attempt to hide her burgeoning baby bump, Jessica Simpson was busy traveling across the States via a flight from Los Angeles' LAX Airport to JFK in New York City on Sunday (October 23).
The "Dukes of Hazzard" darling - who's yet to confirm that she is indeed expecting a little one - was joined by her sister Ashlee and her son Bronx, as well as mother Tina, for the Big Apple bound adventure.
The travels comes as the Simpson sisters are gearing up for the nearing launch of their co-created tween clothing line, which is being place under Jessica's already successful and lucrative brand.
Set to debut in the coming weeks, the line will include denim, knits, hoodies, pullovers, graphic tees, outerwear and footwear, with Jess previously telling WWD, "Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand. I'm excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today's tweens."
Of the project, Ashlee added, "My goal as co-creative director will be to design clothes that will help inspire young girls to express their personalities and creativity through fashion."
